Water-Soluble Prodrugs of the Neuroactive Steroid, NTS-105

Our compounds rapidly convert to NTS-105, a neuroactive steroid (active molecule) in plasma following parenteral administration of the prodrug. NTS-105 readily crosses the blood brain barrier, reaches pharmacologic concentrations in the brain and plasma, and has multi-targeted mechanisms of action.

NTS has performed rigorous preclinical evaluation of NTS-105 in multiple independent laboratories utilizing multiple models of brain injury, including ischemic and mechanical injuries.

In a rat model of stroke that mimics the emboli that often cause stroke in humans, NTS-105 has shown the ability to reduce the volume of infarction in the brain in a dose-dependent manner.

In the same animals as the study above (infarct volumes), NTS-105 treatment led to faster and more complete recovery in the 4 weeks following stroke.
